“Anything for you, baby.” I agreed. I wrapped my hand around her waist to keep her close to me.

“I’ll be back before dinner,” I said looking at Conner who nodded. Summer got up immediately too and tagged along.

“If you are doing so well, why are you interested in the inheritance?” Margaret asked. We were at the door when she spoke. I paused, took a quick look at Angelina who was clinging to me, before turning to Margaret with a smile.

“That’s enough questioning for today, you have a whole year to find out about him… if you care that much,” Conner interfered.

“He’s right mother, Theo just got here, please,” Barth chipped in.

“You are excused,” Conner said to me and I nodded before walking away.

As we stood watching Angelina go home in one of the Rolls Royces, I couldn’t help but remember the day we first met.

Summer and I were having lunch that afternoon when Conner walked in with her. He had told me before then, that I needed to present myself as a complete man before the Sterling’s. I had to be a successful businessman, married or engaged.

“Anything short of that standard would pass for a gold digger,” he informed me and I listened keenly.

“Your speech at the funeral service was a great one, you have succeeded in giving them the impression that you are well to do, now, let’s make it a reality.” He continued.

“To do that, we need a company, an already existing company with a good record.” He noted and I nodded.
