I Was Barred From Ogun APC Stakeholders Meeting — Gbenga Daniel - 23 hours ago

Former Ogun State governor and serving senator for Ogun East, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has alleged that he was prevented from attending a crucial All Progressives Congress stakeholders meeting in Ijebu Ode.

The meeting, convened as an emergency caucus session for Ogun East APC leaders, was held at the Adeola Odutola Hall in Ijebu Ode. Despite his status as a former governor and a sitting senator elected on the party’s platform, Daniel said he was stopped at the venue and denied entry.

The incident came to light through a short video that quickly circulated online. In the clip, Daniel is seen standing inside a white campaign bus branded with the OGD/PBAT Movement logo, addressing a crowd of supporters who had accompanied him to the meeting.

Speaking from the vehicle, he told his supporters that he had been barred from the gathering. According to him, “We are here for our Ogun East APC caucus meeting, but surprisingly, we have been barred; we are told that we can’t enter, but let it be said that whatever they do here today is null and void.”

The stakeholders meeting was called by the party leadership in Ogun East and was described as an emergency session. An invitation letter circulated ahead of the event listed those expected to attend, including deputy governors, past and serving local government chairmen, councillors, and current and former members of both the Ogun State House of Assembly and the National Assembly.

Daniel’s exclusion has raised questions about internal dynamics within the Ogun State chapter of the APC, particularly in Ogun East, where he remains one of the most prominent political figures. His supporters view the incident as a deliberate attempt to sideline him from key party decisions in the senatorial district.

Party officials in the state have yet to provide a detailed public explanation for why the senator was turned back from the venue, or who specifically ordered that he should not be allowed into the hall. The development is expected to heighten tensions within the party’s local structure as preparations continue for future political contests in the state.
