Dear Lord, it is I, your prodigal child,
The seldom calm and wantonly wild,
I’m here again; unable to make the promise of not being a bother,
Dear Lord this is a cry for help for I and my brothers!
Father Lord help me and help my brothers,
The truth is we really cannot help ourselves,
We’ve gotten delusive drowning in the lies we tell ourselves,
You’ve given us the pathway to heaven, but we’ve chosen hell ourselves,
Dear Lord help me and my brothers to help ourselves,
For without removing the log in our eyes, we can never truly remove the speck out of our brother’s ,
Dear Lord help us to be realer,
Not trapped in constructs where it’s unmanly to be feelers,
Dear Lord my brothers and I are too keen on dying in silence and dying in violence,
I’ve been at too many candle nights and it constantly gets dire hence,
This SOS, for only you can help us ; yes oh yes!
Dear Lord help us from oppression and depression,
For this kills us and we mask it with addiction ,
I can count the amount of my bros not taking drugs with no prescription,
To me and my brothers sobriety is fiction,
Bros expressing love is gay and we only have hate words in our diction,
Father Lord help me and my brothers,
To be our brother’s keeper and not our brother’s killer,
Help us to help ourselves! And safe us from these lies we believe and tell,
Oh Lord help me and my brothers to not succumb to our animal side,
There’s a rapist buried inside all of us; a darkness in us we’re scared to name,
Urges in us we were never taught to tame,
No matter how we’ll deny, we’re all birds of the same feathers,
Even though we’ll say we’re cut from a different leather,
Dear Lord help me and my brothers to love our mothers and our sisters and not hurt them,
To realize we’re all sons to daughters,
And we’re inevitably fathers,
Dear Lord help us to learn our father’s mistakes to correct them and not repeat them,
Most of us never had fathers and now we have to be fathers without being fathered,
Dear Lord deliver us from the darkness in our own soul,
Help us to realize; you brought us in this life and,
We don’t have to carry the world’s weight on our shoulders; we can put it on you,
And when it seems like nobody understands us; you do,
Help us to run towards and not from you,
Help us, for I’m not going to lie; only you can in truth,
We’re dreadful sinners, with destiny of winners ,
And only you can ever help us actualize,
Strip our eyes of lies and give us real eyes to realize that we don’t need to compromise,
And lastly dear Lord help me and my brothers to fathom that we’re so much more than scammers,
You’ve put in us so much talent, don’t let the constructs of pain and frustration make them silent,
We’re so much more, please don’t let us settle for being too little.
