"Life After University: Facing Career Uncertainty And Taking A Leap Of Faith" - 3 months ago

As I draw closer to the end of my university program, I’m faced with a wave of uncertainty.

Is this something I truly want to pursue as a career, or—like many university graduates—will it be something I “just have”?

From childhood, we all had our dreams and aspirations. Doctor. Soldier. Lawyer. That was what career day looked like growing up.

Back then, it was all about: “What do you want to be when you grow up?”

Now, it’s: “What are you doing with your life?”

That shift comes with fear. With uncertainty. And for most of us, it will require taking a leap of faith.

A leap into something no one in our lives may have thought possible.

That’s becoming the trend—not just in Nigeria, but across the world.

More people are diving into tech, creativity, innovation, marketing.

Now try convincing parents who grew up in a time where law, medicine, and engineering were the gold standards of success.

For Gen Z, staying relevant means being open to change.

Most of what we’ll do—or at least most of what matters—will be unconventional, daring, and to some, even reckless.

But that’s exactly why it’s called a leap of faith.
