The Balancing Act Of Mr Jide - 1 month ago

Jide was the kind of guy who believed he could handle anything office deadlines, side hustles, family calls, and his girlfriend, Ada, who had a PhD in “Why didn’t you call me back?”

At first, everything was rosy. Jide would text “Good morning sunshine ☀️” before his alarm even rang and video call Ada during lunch breaks. He’d say things like, “Baby, you’re my peace in this chaotic world.” Ada melted every time.

But slowly, life started demanding its share. Work got busier. His boss started acting like deadlines were oxygen. He joined the gym (for three days, but that’s not the point). And suddenly, those long romantic calls turned into “Babe, let me call you back after this meeting.”

Ada noticed. “Jide, you don’t make time for me anymore,” she said one evening.

Jide sighed. “It’s not like that, Ada. I’m just trying to balance things.”

“Balance?” she asked, crossing her arms. “You’re not a gymnast, Jide. You can’t balance me and your job on one leg!”

The truth was  Jide wasn’t wrong. Neither was Ada. Life was doing what life does best  stretching him thin between ambition, responsibilities, and love.

So one Saturday, Jide decided to fix it. He left his phone on “Do Not Disturb,” took Ada out to a quiet restaurant, and told her, “Babe, I’m learning that love isn’t about giving what’s left of me  it’s about making room for you in the middle of everything.”

Ada smiled. “So… you’re saying I’m part of the everything?”

He laughed. “You’re the best part.”

From that day, Jide started scheduling life like a pro  work had its time, gym had its slot, and love? That one got premium hours. They learned that balance wasn’t about dividing time perfectly; it was about being present in whatever moment you’re in.

Some days, work still overflowed. Some nights, Ada still complained. But they found their rhythm  one understanding, one laughter, and one “babe, I’m sorry” at a time.

Because in the end, balance isn’t a perfect split it’s choosing who and what truly matters, and showing up, even when it’s hard. ❤️
