Hey famz🥰

Our favourite time of the year is here again💃💃🎉

So, today's topic is about understaning our hair type.

One  major reason many people struggle with hair growth is simple, they don’t understand their hair type.

Knowing your hair type helps you choose the right products, routines, and styles for healthier growth.

What Is Hair Type?

Hair type refers to the natural pattern and behavior of your hair.

This affects how your hair hold moisture, breaks or grows and how your hair respond to any product you use.

 Common Hair Types

Type 1 ( straight hair): no natural curls from tip to roots

Type 2 (wavy): forms loose “s” shape

Type 3 (Curly): Loose to tight curls

Type 4 (Coily/Kinky): Tight coils or zig-zag patterns (very common in Africans, my hair type😊)

Type 4 hair grows well but needs more moisture and gentle care. So, if you have type 4 hair but use products meant for type 3 hair then your hair will not grow well because you are not giving it what it needs.

Why Hair Type Matters for Growth

  1. Product Choice

Using products meant for another hair type can dry out your hair especially if you have type 4 hair.

     2.  Moisture Needs

Some hair types lose moisture faster and need frequent hydration (e.g type 4 hair)

       3. Styling Decisions

Not all styles suit every hair type. The wrong styles cause breakage.

       4. Routine Planning

Your wash days, oils, and creams should match your hair’s needs and YOUR hair needs only. Never copy every hair routin you see online.

Simple Tip to Care for Your Hair Type

Instead of copying routines online, observe your own hair:

What makes it dry?

What keeps it soft?

How often does it break?

Your hair will tell you what it needs.

There is no “bad” hair type. Healthy hair growth starts when you understand and respect your natural hair:)

Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year in advance🥰🫶🏿🌟
