Nollywood has been thrown into fresh controversy after actress Angela Okorie publicly blasted her colleague Anita Joseph over an alleged photo theft and face-editing scandal involving content creator Caramel Plug.

The drama began when Caramel Plug accused Anita Joseph of lifting one of her carefully curated fashion photos and digitally replacing her face with Anita’s. The original image showed Caramel Plug in a cream suit, coffee-brown tie, matching jacket, and yellow shoes, posed against a stylish backdrop. According to Caramel, every detail of the outfit and setting in Anita’s post was identical to hers, except for the face.

Caramel Plug said she tried to call Anita out directly in the comment section of the actress’s page, only to find her comments repeatedly deleted. That move further inflamed the situation, with social media users rallying behind the content creator and accusing Anita of disrespecting creatives who invest time and money in their brand imagery.

Under mounting criticism, Anita Joseph eventually deleted the controversial photo and issued an apology. She claimed the image was the result of an Artificial Intelligence mix-up, suggesting that the technology had generated the edited picture in a way she had not fully intended or understood.

Angela Okorie was not convinced. Taking to Instagram, she launched a scathing attack on Anita, describing her as a bad person and what she called a “complete yeyebrity” – a derisive term used online for celebrities perceived as fake, unserious, or lacking integrity.

Okorie questioned why any public figure would assume they could use another person’s photo without being found out, especially in an era where digital footprints are easily traced. She added that she herself has often seen people copy her style and then parade it as their own creation, a pattern she linked to a wider culture of uncredited imitation in the entertainment industry.

Her outburst tapped into a broader conversation about ethics, originality, and the pressures of maintaining a glamorous image online. While Anita’s supporters have urged forgiveness, others argue that blaming AI is no excuse for what they see as a clear case of digital appropriation.
