The Nigeria Police Force, collaborating with other security agencies, has imposed a 24-hour curfew in Borno State after an IED explosion in Kawori killed 16 people and injured several others. This measure aims to prevent further unrest and maintain public order.

ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, Borno State's Police Public Relations Officer, conveyed Governor Babagana Umar Zulum's directive, emphasizing the urgent need to restore law and order. Security forces have been deployed to enforce the curfew strictly.

Simultaneously, in Zamfara State, joint security forces dispersed protesters in Gusau. Demonstrators had blocked roads near the Government House, protesting against insecurity and poor governance. The police used teargas and the army deployed an armored vehicle to restore order.

In Lagos, police tear-gassed #EndBadGovernance protesters at Lekki Tollgate. Despite a court order to relocate to Gani Fawehinmi Park and Peace Park, protesters continued their demonstration against hunger and economic hardship until dispersed by security forces. Nationwide protests, sparked by high inflation and economic crises, are set to continue until August 10, 2024. Authorities urge public cooperation to maintain peace.
