The Last Time I Saw Someone Without Knowing It Was Goodbye - 1wk ago

Have you ever said goodbye to someone without knowing it would be the last time?

Maybe it was a friend you waved at before leaving. Maybe it was a family member you promised to call later. Maybe it was someone you met briefly and never imagined would disappear from your life.

The strange thing about goodbyes is that they don't always announce themselves.

Sometimes, you see someone for the last time and everything feels completely normal. You laugh. You talk about your plans. You say, "See you later." And then life happens.

Days become weeks. Weeks become months. You suddenly realise that the person you thought you would see again is no longer part of your everyday life.

Maybe they moved away. Maybe circumstances changed. Maybe the friendship slowly faded. Or perhaps life simply took you both in different directions.

And then one ordinary day, you remember them.

You remember the last conversation. The clothes they wore. The place you saw them. The last thing they said to you.

You wish you had known.

You wish you had stayed a little longer. Asked one more question. Taken one more picture. Given one more hug.

But perhaps that's the lesson hidden in unexpected goodbyes.

We don't always know when a moment is becoming a memory.

So maybe we should pay more attention to the people in front of us. Appreciate the conversations. Say the things we keep postponing. Love people while we still have the chance.

Because sometimes, the last time is just an ordinary day.

And you only realise it was goodbye when it's already too late.
