Death Of Woman Shot By ICE Officer In Minneapolis Ignites Mass Protests - 1 month ago

A 37‑year‑old woman, identified as Renee Nicole Good, was fatally shot by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer on Wednesday during a federal immigration enforcement operation in south Minneapolis, sparking large protests and intense criticism from local leaders.

Federal officials, including Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, defended the officer’s actions, saying he fired in self‑defense after the woman allegedly tried to use her vehicle against agents.

However, video footage and eyewitness accounts contradict that narrative, showing the vehicle moving slowly as agents surrounded it, with one officer firing multiple shots at close range.

Good died from her injuries, and authorities including the FBI have launched investigations into the deadly encounter.

The shooting added fuel to existing tensions over the Trump administration’s expanded immigration crackdown, which has deployed thousands of federal agents to Minneapolis and other U.S. cities.

Thousands of protesters took to the streets demanding ICE leave the city, chanting against federal enforcement and denouncing what they see as reckless use of force.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz strongly condemned the killing, rejecting federal claims of self‑defense and calling for accountability, while counter‑protests and vigils have spread beyond Minnesota as the nation grapples with the broader debate over immigration policy and law enforcement tactics.
