Your mother will tell you stories about me, about the man I was, the things I did. But I want you to remember me as a father, as a man who loved you more than life itself. I want you to remember my smile, my laugh, my tears.

Don't cry for me, son. I've lived a life worth living, but it's not the life I wanted. I wanted to grow old with your mother, to see you graduate, to walk you down the aisle, to hold my grandkids. But fate has other plans.

I'm so sorry, son. I'm so sorry I won't be there to wipe away your tears, to calm your fears, to be your rock. But I know you'll be strong, just like your mother. You'll face challenges, but you'll overcome them. You'll make me proud, even in death.

To my dearest wife,

I love you. I always have, I always will. You're the love of my life, my partner, my best friend. I'm so sorry I won't be there to hold your hand when we're grey and wrinkled. I'm so sorry I won't be there to grow old with you.

But I know you'll be okay. You're the strongest person I know. You'll raise our son to be a good man, to be a better man than I ever was.

I'll carry you both in my heart, always. I'll watch over you from wherever I am, and I'll wait for the day when we'll be together again. Until then, know that I love you both more than life itself.

Yours always,

Dad
