TIDYING UP SOCIAL MEDIA
“Use social media intentionally. Follow people who inspire and motivate you. Engage with experts you can learn from. Create genuine positive friendships.”

Dear Ty,
Deciding to be intentional about social media was one of the best decisions I made when I began my growth journey.
I reviewed my 'Following' list, unfollowing pages, groups, and friends that were not bringing value to me.
If I was going to be on social media, I might as well get the most out of it. With over 3,000 friends and 1,000 follows, I realized 90% weren't providing meaningful content.
So, I tidied up my followers and Followings, seeking out accounts aligned with my interests in growth, reading, design, and faith. Soon, 90% of my feed was filled with inspiring content.
Facebook's "see more" or "see less" feature helps me curate my feed by controlling the frequency of posts from my followings.
While I enjoy videos and memes, I limit them to focus on meaningful content.
When I started morning daily readings, I missed a day once, and a post by someone I followed encouraged me to persist.
Remember, your followers should gain value from your content. What you share should enrich their lives.
By being intentional on social media, I've built meaningful friendships and even got a volunteer opportunity. I'll share that story soon. For now, consider your own social media presence:
- How many friends and followers do you have?
- Are they learning from you?
- How many accounts are you following?
- Are you gaining value from them?
Personally,
~ I'm learning about content creation from Sam Semako
~ Joy Dakok is teaching me the English Language
~I buy my books from Lightville Book Cafe
~ Wordsmith J. Nansel and Glory Ayobami Ogunbodede are all about growth and becoming better.
~ I read book reviews, inspirational messages and quotes on reading, being a bibliophile from Lengdung Tungchamma
~ The Money Mechanic is teaching me about finance(though I'm not serious about this for now 🙃)
~ I want to read like Alexander Alexander Alexander Haruna Izang
~ Tongjal N. Wungakha inspires me to write.
~ Desire of Nations and Hankuri Tawus Gaya have been of help to me as a student.
~ Praise Muri has been my inspiration on tech (particularly graphic design though I'm yet to be serious about that too)
These are but a few of the people I'm learning from on social media.
Take 15 minutes to go through your followings and tidy it up.
Sincerely,
Amos Bani
