What Is Your Name? - 1 year ago

Growing up, I had mixed feelings about my name, “Blessing". While I didn't dislike it, I felt annoyed by its commonality. It seemed like every other person was named Blessing! I'd often mistakenly respond when someone called out the name, only to realize it wasn't me. I even got confused with the name Mercy sometimes.

As I grew older, I began to appreciate the meaning behind my name. I realized that Blessing is a beautiful and uplifting name, symbolizing positivity and good fortune. My perspective shifted, and I started to embrace my name. I understood that it's a part of my identity and a reflection of my values.

Interestingly, my tribal name underwent a change from Oku to Agon. I was earlier named Oku, after my grandmother. But honestly, its meaning didn't vibe with me. Who wants a name with a not-so-great rep?

Meeting people with amazing names and meanings makes me glad but the question is are we living up to our names? Or is it just a cool label? It's not just about having a pretty name; it's about embodying its purpose.

Live up to your name, and your name will live up to you. My name is Blessing, what is your name?
