Words can kill, words can give life and lift people's esteem, it can as well belittle someone. It all depends on your choice of words.

Today was indeed a day which taught me a lesson.

Many people fail to use the right words. Rather than condemning or discriminating, why don't you try to encourage and give useful advices? Most people might be smiling but deep down they're hurt and dealing with a lot of things. Many are facing challenges either financially, socially, academically and most importantly, emotionally and they just need the right people who are able to bring back that real smile and real self with just WORDS of encouragement.

Some out there take whatever you say so serious, some take people's "words" and statements to heart. But No! Don't let hurtful words get to you or hit you hard. You're more than that. You're more than their intimidations, criticism or mere insults. Take it that they only want to see the best in you. See it as an avenue to be better than what you are. It is either you plan to grow and be better or remain stagnant and keep listening to what people have to say.
People's choices differ. It all depends on you to make the right choices. Choose right words, choose right decisions, use right words too. 
Just as said earlier, Rather than condemning or discriminating, encourage and use your words to give life
