The village had heard about Jesus, but not everyone believed in Him.
One evening, a violent storm swept through the area. Trees fell, homes shook, and people ran in every direction. Among them was a traveler passing through. He wasn't a follower of Jesus. He knew little about Him except the stories people told.
Terrified, he remembered hearing an old woman say, "When you have nowhere else to turn, call on the name of Jesus."
With nothing left to hold onto, he whispered, "Jesus... if You are real, help me."
The storm didn't stop immediately, but something changed. Fear gave way to peace. He found shelter, survived the night, and the next morning he went looking—not for another miracle—but for the Man whose name he had called.
An old believer smiled and said, "You didn't just escape the storm. You were invited into a relationship."
The traveler asked, "So... did the name of Jesus answer me even though I wasn't a believer?"
The old man replied,
"The name of Jesus is powerful enough for anyone to call on. But He doesn't answer just to rescue people from storms—He answers to bring them to Himself. The miracle is not only that you were saved from danger. The greater miracle is that now you know the One whose name you called."
The traveler became a follower of Christ that day.
Sometimes God answers a cry before a person becomes a believer—not because they already belong to Him, but because He is calling them to belong to Him.
"Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved." — Romans 10:13
