The Rivers State House of Assembly has thrown its weight behind President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office. This decisive endorsement is a clear nod to the federal projects that have supposedly been showered on the state,courtesy of Tinubu's administration.
During the Assembly's 37th Legislative Session, a motion was proposed and signed by 26 members, showcasing a singular show of hands for Tinubu. House Leader Mr. Major Jack (Akuku-Toru), when reading the motion, stressed the need for “continuity in governance.”
Assembly members gushed over Tinubu’s so-called "fatherly" intervention during a recent political crisis in Rivers State, hailing it as an act of love for the people.
Moreover, the lawmakers commended Tinubu for appointing several prominent indigenes of Rivers State to significant federal positions. They claimed these appointments have fortified ties between the state and the federal government and uplifted local politicians' spirits. But let's not forget,political appointments often come with strings attached.
Speaker Martin Amaewhule (Obio/Akpor I) praised Tinubu as a “compassionate leader” working tirelessly for Nigeria's growth. He lauded the administration's strategic economic policies as “impactful.”
In a further show of loyalty, Assembly members promised to rally grassroots support for the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ and expressed unwavering allegiance to Minister Nyesom Wike.
